Story

The Melody Event Center offers an elegantly restored classic venue with state of the art equipment and customized on site catering to bring your vision to life for your wedding, meeting, conference, fundraiser or special occasion.

Originally built as a Woodsmen of the World lodge in 1925, complete with two ballrooms, a speakeasy and a steam room with soaking tub, The Melody has been home to many Portland social events in its storied more than 90-year history.

For the past nearly 40 years, the Melody has been home to weddings, proms, community auctions and fundraisers, music events, birthday parties, Quinceaneras and other gala celebrations.

With a complete building remodel that culminated with a grand re-opening in November 2018, The Melody Event Center has expanded into 6 unique event spaces for events ranging from 15 to 1,000 guests.

Event
PLANNING

Our event staff, from our sales team to our operations, catering and service staff, stands ready to support your visions from start to finish. Trust us to help you with planning, set-up and décor, A/V and run of show. Here are some of the services we offer:

CATERING
Your event sales staff can help you with menu planning, with options for any dietary constraints. Our catering staff will prepare your menu using the freshest local ingredients. Final menus and guest counts are finalized 14 days prior to your event.

LIGHTING AND DÉCOR
The ballroom features programmable colored lighting and disco ball. Complimentary additional uplighting is available for all of our spaces. Standard linens and centerpieces starters are provided for your event. We offer additional décor from pipe and drape, upgraded linen, chair covers and sashes, decoration chairs and furnishings, head table backdrops and décor and much more upon request.

AUDIO/VISUAL
Each of our spaces is equipped with in-house speakers suitable for speaking and background music, as well as screens and projectors. We are happy to assist you with additional A/V needs through our trusted vendor network. DJs, bands and other live entertainment are welcome with prior approval.

RESERVING YOUR DATE
You can hold a date for 14 days with first right of refusal. A signed contract and deposit are required to secure your date.

PRICING AND PAYMENT
The Melody offers room rental rates with and without minimum catering guarantees. Our rates include tables chairs, stage, basic A/V, set-up, clean-up, appropriate catering linens, tableware and serviceware. We accept checks (more than 30 days prior to event), credit cards and cash. Online payment options can be provided on request. Final payment is due 14 days prior to your event.

Our booking policies take into consideration the safety of our neighbors and community. Private, nonprofit and school events are welcomed. Public ticketed events will be carefully reviewed for their fit with the local community.
